Call it what you want. I’ll just call it deja vu. How many times in the past have we seen the Miami Dolphins be in a playoff position and the team blow it in the last five-years. Needing just a single result to go their way, losses have mounted near the end of the season, resulting in our seven-year playoff drought to constantly grow in length.

That feeling from those years was always a combination of anger, sadness, and disbelief. Two of those feelings are what I personally experienced Sunday when the Miami Dolphins suffered an embarrassing 38-6 loss at the Baltimore Ravens. Having been on a six-game winning streak as they entered that contest, Miami was brought back down to earth following the result.

The result also gives some truth to the Miami Dolphins most vocal critics. Saying that during the team’s win streak, Miami had not played anyone of not proved to be true on Sunday. Struggling to earns wins against San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco in recent weeks, Miami’s poor form showed during Sunday’s loss.

During this poor streak, the offensive line has been possibly the biggest issue facing the team. Even having four of their five starters for the game against the Ravens was not enough to right the ship this time. It’s poor performance ended up putting quarterback Ryan Tannehill behind the eight-ball as he regressed back to his old-self during this game.

On the defensive side of the ball, we once again saw the holes in the Dolphins pass defense. Unable to defend the quick passes from Joe Flacco, this game was as good as over at the end of the first quarter. It is all too much for me. This seems just like all those early years under Joe Philbin where Miami would be in a position to make the playoffs and blow it in the final few games.

With Adam Gase at the helm, I’m hoping this is not an exact replay of those years. However, watching the game on Sunday sure felt like deja vu to me. All I can hope for is that it was simply just a one-time feeling.
