Deferred Action Counter: Almost 4,600 Illegal Immigrants Get Approvals

The Department of Homeland Security is implementing the Obama Administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program which the president approved via memorandum on June 15.

The first applications were accepted by Homeland Security's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services two months later.

Reports of eligible youth under the age of 31 by June 15 and who arrived in the U.S. before age 16 ranged from 800,000 to 1.76 million.
