Decomposed body in RV being investigated as homicide by San Jose PD

(KRON) — An incident involving a decomposed dead body that was found in a recreational vehicle last week is being investigated as a homicide, the San Jose Police Department said. SJPD patrol officers responded on Thursday, Jan. 11 at around 10:50 p.m. to the area of Kruse Drive and Montague Expressway on a report of a dead body.

Arriving at the scene, a dead man was found inside an RV. Due to the body’s decomposition, police said, it was not evident that the death was a result of foul play.

Officers at the scene collected evidence and did a thorough investigation. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office also responded and began its own investigation.

On Wednesday, the Chief Medical Officer of the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office contacted SJPD and advised that physical trauma on the victim and the manner of death were concurrent with a homicide.

This marks San Jose’s third homicide of 2024.

The victim’s identity will be released by the coroner, pending identification and notification of next of kin. Circumstances and motive surrounding the incident remain under investigation, SJPD said.
