‘Decline and Fall’ Sneak Peek: See Eva Longoria’s British TV Debut as a Sassy 1920s Socialite

Eva Longoria is back on TV, but she’s far from desperate. The former Desperate Housewives star makes her British TV debut in the miniseries Decline and Fall, and she’s calling the shots as socialite Margot Beste-Chetwynde in the BBC One period dramedy. The three-part series, based on Evelyn Waugh’s classic 1928 novel of the same name, follows the misadventures of protagonist Paul Pennyfeather (Jack Whitehall), a young man who’s unfairly expelled from Oxford University for indecent exposure after a prank by the Bollinger Club (a fictionalized version of a real-life all-male dining club, the Bullingdon Club). The satirical series makes its U.S. premiere on Acorn TV, the popular streaming site known for bringing the best British television to small screens across the pond.

In this exclusive sneak peek at Decline and Fall, Longoria is a hoot as Margot, a cig-smoking MILF who’s posing for a portrait while planning a party with her teen son Peter. (She’s having a soiree for a couple hundred of her closest friends.) But the two men sketching her — her son’s bumbling tutor, Pennyfeather, and eccentric German architect Otto (Anatole Taubman) — are so mesmerized they can’t seem to get her clothes right. Or on her at all.

Take a look at the clip to see Eva’s picture-perfect portrayal of a 1920s socialite — with a bite.

Decline and Fall premieres Monday, May 15 on Acorn TV.
