Mitsubishi's 2012 sales tumbled 27 percent, bright spot is Outlander Sport
CYPRESS, Calif. (AP) -- Mitsubishi Motors North America said Thursday that 2012 U.S. sales fell 27 percent as it nearly ended sales of some models here.
BY THE NUMBERS: The company sold 57,790 vehicles last year compared with 79,020 in 2011. December sales dropped 18 percent to 4,113.
TOP SELLER: The company sold 18,091 of the Outlander Sport compared with 16,443 in 2011, a 10 percent increase.
HOT MODEL: Sales of the Lancer Evolution rose 19 percent from 2011, with 2,516 vehicles sold. Mitsubishi sold only a few Eclipse Coupes and Eclipse Spyders, and December sales of its Galant car fell by half from the same month of 2011.
