Decatur SRO under investigation for ‘inappropriate relationship’ with school staff member

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur Police Department is conducting an internal investigation after receiving a tip that a school resource officer and Decatur Public Schools employee were caught having sexual intercourse during school hours at Eisenhower High School.

Police Chief Shane Brandel confirmed to WCIA that his department had received a tip about the “inappropriate relationship” between an SRO at Eisenhower High School and an adult Decatur Public Schools staff member.

As a result, the SRO has been removed from their post and the DPD has launched an investigation into the allegations.

Champaign school board members comment on cancelled meeting after members walk out

Brandel said a determination on disciplinary actions will be made once the investigation is complete. Until then, he cannot comment any further.
