DECATUR, Ala (WHNT) — The Decatur Police Department (DPD) says a man was arrested Thursday after a road rage incident led to shots being fired into an occupied SUV.

DPD said dispatch received a call of shots fired near the Walmart at 2800 Spring Avenue SW. Authorities said once officers arrived, they located an SUV that had been hit by a bullet.

The department said detectives determined the SUV had been involved in a road rage incident on Beltline Road with a man on a motorcycle, later identified as Mcalpin.

The spokesperson said that once the two parties arrived at Walmart, there was a physical altercation between Mcalpin and the people in the SUV. During that altercation, authorities said Mcalpin pulled out a gun and shot the SUV, though no one inside the vehicle was hurt.

Mcalpin is being held at the Morgan County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
