Decatur County Schools hold meeting

May 11—DECATUR COUNTY — The Decatur County Community Schools Board of Trustees held their regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday night to approve appointments, resignations, field trips, claims and payroll. Additionally, the board awarded Extra Effort awards and approved next year's North and South Decatur Elementary handbooks.

The board approved all student fundraisers and a total of $9,600 in donations.

Chartwell's Food Service bid was the only bid received and was approved with Superintendent Dr. Jarrod Burns pointing out that the bid was competitive with last year's pricing.

North Decatur Elementary School science teacher Dave Sell took home the DCCS Extra Effort Award for his 43-year career as an educator.

The second Extra Effort award went to North Decatur Jr. Sr. High School football coach and social studies teacher Steve Stirn for his work on behalf of students.

NDES Principal Rob Smith and NDHS Principal Debbie Reynolds presented each award respectively.

NDES Assistant Principal Jeremy Sherman reported on the elementary's efforts at preschool planning. He anticipates a preschool by the fall of 2025.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 12 at the DCCS Central Office on Montgomery Road in Greensburg.
