'Decades-old' hand grenade found in Fort Knox area has been destroyed
A "decades-old" unexploded hand grenade was destroyed after being found in the Fort Knox area Tuesday, according to a release posted on X, formerly Twitter.
A military disposal team destroyed the device, found in the area of South Knox Street, Tuesday afternoon. The area was closed for several hours as the crew worked to dispose of the device.
The facilities close to the area were determined to be safe and can be accessed through Dixie Street and Pershing Drive, the release stated.
