Death in Paradise star Don Warrington has shared a behind-the-scenes look at the show's next set of episodes.

The BBC series is currently filming season 14, which will see Don Gilet step into the lead role as Saint Marie's new Detective Inspector, Mervin Wilson, making his debut this Christmas.

Warrington, who has played Commissioner Selwyn Patterson since the show's inception, has now shared some pictures from the show's set as production gets underway in Guadeloupe.

"Back to work #deathinparadise," the actor captioned the reel of photos.

Gilet is joining the series following the departure of Ralf Little's Neville Parker in the season 13 finale, which saw his character leave Saint Marie with Florence Cassell.

"Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands," Gilet said of joining the show.

"This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it. It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled and dedicated.

"Even during those testing times when every sinew is screaming at me to run off the set and dive into the sea, swimming pool or an ice-cold beer – whichever happens to be closer at the time!"

Little has since sent his congratulations to his successor, saying on social media: "The new detective is the wonderful Don Gilet! And I just wanna say, from me to you, Don, I hope you have the most wonderful time.

"It's the most magical experience, and I just hope you just get everything out of it, and I wish you the best of luck. I'm absolutely sure you're gonna be magnificent. Cheers, mate."

Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
