Dean's Jewelry moving its Mount Vernon store to a new location

MOUNT VERNON − Dean's Jewelry is moving into a new storefront in Mount Vernon after 16 years in the community.

The longtime local jewelers broke ground last May. The new store is slated to open on May 16 at 1573 Coshocton Ave.

A multi-generational family business, Dean’s Jewelry has been a fixture in the Coshocton and Mount Vernon communities since Dean Turner opened the first store in Coshocton in 1965. After taking over the store in 1991 Dean’s son, Tim, opened the store’s original Mt. Vernon location. Now co–owners Noah Turner and Michelle Turner Ganz are continuing the family legacy in a bigger and better storefront.

Though the new store is right across the street from their previous location, the move took some work and setting up a new store with the same welcoming atmosphere as their previous one took plenty of love and care, Turner Ganz said in a press release.

“Year after year, we’ve seen more customers in our stores,” she said. “As our clientele expands, we obviously want to have more space for them, but we also want to offer them more jewelry. The new space will really let us expand our inventory. There will be more room to shop and more jewelry to shop for.”

The store will hold a drawing for a pair of lab-grown diamond stud earrings the opening weekend. Festivities will be May 16-18.

"We feel so lucky to be a part of this community,” Turner Ganz said. “Our customers are more than just customers. They’re our neighbors and our friends. They’re also the reason we’ve been able to keep our small business running through three generations of family ownership.
