Deadly Escambia County car crash suspect turns himself in

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A Pensacola man turned himself into the Escambia County Jail for a warrant stemming from a deadly crash, according to a press release.

34-year-old Jewayne Mykel Floyd of Pensacola, Florida, turned himself in on May 1, the release said.

The turn-in comes after a deadly crash on Oct. 7, 2023, in Escambia County, News 5 has learned.

Floyd, the reported driver of a 2020 Dodge Charger, crashed on Interstate 110 in Escambia County, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times, according to authorities.

One passenger was killed in the crash, and another was injured. Floyd was also injured in the crash, according to the release.

After investigations found the vehicle was traveling between 131 and 146 miles per hour when the crash took place, Floyd was charged with one count of vehicular homicide, and a warrant was issued.

Floyd is currently in jail with charges listed as negligent manslaughter in a vehicular homicide on the booking log.

He is not eligible for bond, according to the Escambia County Jail log.
