Deadline for Hometown Heroes banners extended

The city of Bakersfield is extending the deadline for the 2024-25 Hometown Heroes Banner Program.

Applicants now have until 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9 to submit their applications for a banner. The program honors active-duty military personnel from Bakersfield or who are an immediate relative a city resident.

The fee for a banner is $165. Go to https://bit.ly/3vByFtZ for more information and the application.

The banners will be installed on light poles at the Bakersfield Amtrak station, 601 Truxtun Ave.
