Dead Media Collectibles talks comics, collectibles, and community support over the years

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Dead Media Collectibles is place where you can find comics, collectibles and more.

For this episode of “Your Hometown Road Trip” we spoke with owner, Angel Zapata about how his business came to be.

What is Dead Media Collectibles?

“It is a comic, movie, and toy shop. We’ve been here in Augusta for seven years, and we have a lot of fun collectibles and making people smile.”

What can people find in here?

“We have Marvel and DC Comics, independent comics. We have retro toys from old video games, to G.I. Joe, to Masters of the Universe, Transformers, Dungeons and Dragons, and we specialize in horror films as well on DVD, Blue Ray.”

What made you decide to open up this kind of place in Augusta?

“I’ve been doing this since I was thirteen years old as far as collecting. I got in to comics at first, and moved in to movies and toys. This has always been a dream, and at this point in my life I’ve always wanted to do something that I loved, and something that would be a part of the community.”

What would you say to get people to come and check this place out?

“I would say we probably have something in here that’s going to blow your mind, something in here from your childhood that you’ve forgotten that you had, and this might stir up something with you that you didn’t know you needed. We all need that sense of nostalgia that ties us to the past.”

Anything you want to say to the community for supporting you?

“We want to thank everyone because we’ve had a lot of support. We have people that come in all the time that have told us that we want to shop local, we want to support local, this means a lot, please don’t go away, because these items are important to us.
