DEA agent shoots, kills person during 'authorized law enforcement action' in West Palm

WEST PALM BEACH — A federal Drug Enforcement Administration agent shot and killed a person on Friday afternoon in West Palm Beach, the agency said in a statement.

The DEA did not immediately identify the person who died in the shooting, which happened at a shopping plaza along Okeechobee Boulevard between Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and Congress Avenue.

A spokesperson for the DEA Miami Field Division said the agent was conducting an "authorized law enforcement action" at the time of the shooting. The wounded person died at the scene. The spokesperson said there was no threat to the community.

The DEA made no further information available and said it would not provide additional statements while the incident is under investigation.
