DCS unveils new brand across 10 elementary schools

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Students at every elementary school in the Dothan City School system got treated to a pep rally on Friday.

WDHN News joined the cheer squad and pep band at Heard Elementary, where school officials put down the old logo of a husky and unveiled their new mascot of a wolf pup.

All 10 elementary schools in the system will now be known as the Wolves instead of their prior mascot. Officials say each wolf mascot represents the unique characteristics of that specific school.

The goal of this rebranding is for all of Dothan now to be one Wolfpack.

“It was exciting to see our students excited about it,” Principal at Heard Elementary, Tamika Fleming said. “We are just out with the old and in with the new. It’s a new era, we are ready to unify our system, so again it’s exciting for our students and our teachers.”

This brand change on Friday was a teaser ahead of the school system’s big announcement on Monday.
