DC police make arrest in 34-year-old cold case

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced that it arrested a woman for a murder that happened over three decades ago in Northeast D.C.

On March 28, 1990, officers found 34-year-old Norman Rich suffering from gunshot wounds in a home in the 500 block of M St. NE. He died there.

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, almost exactly 34 years after the murder, MPD arrested 66-year-old Sheila Brown, of Annapolis, Md.

She was charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Detectives said the shooting was “domestic in nature.”
