DC man charged for shooting, killing another DC man in Prince George’s County

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) charged a man for his involvement in fatally shooting another man in Fort Washington.

45-year-old Monte Brown Jr. of Washington, D.C. was charged with shooting and killing 19-year-old David Frye, also of D.C.

On May 15 at around 6:40 a.m., officers from the Maryland-National Capital Park Police and PGPD responded to a park in the 11900 block of Autumnwood Lane after receiving a report of a man who was unconscious there.

When officers arrived, they found Frye suffering from gunshot wounds. He died there.

Police identified Brown as a suspect in the shooting and he was taken into custody on Thursday. MPD said the two men knew each other.

The motive for the shooting was still being investigated.

Brown was charged with first and second-degree murder and other related charges. He was taken to the Department of Corrections and was being held without bond.
