Two days after Jason Day withdrew from the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, revealing his mother Dening’s lung cancer diagnosis, the 2015 PGA champion shared that a Friday procedure to remove a 3-4 cm mass in her lung was successful.

“Mum and our entire family would like to thank all of our friends and supporters who have reached out in an incredible outpouring of love during such a difficult period. We are praying for her recovery,” Day said in a statement on Friday through manager Bud Martin, according to Golf Channel.

The procedure was performed at the Ohio State Medical Center in Day’s adopted hometown of Columbus.

Dening Day was diagnosed with lung cancer in Australia at the start of 2017 and given a terminal diagnosis with 12 months to live. Jason chose to bring his mother to the United States in search of a better, more aggressive treatment plan.
