Jimmie Johnson’s Monday morning after tying Cale Yarborough with 83 Cup Series wins was spent with a doctor.

Johnson tweeted that he was getting skin cancer cells removed from his shoulder.

Per the Skin Cancer Foundation, basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer.

BCCs are abnormal, uncontrolled growths or lesions that arise in the skin’s basal cells, which line the deepest layer of the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin). BCCs often look like open sores, red patches, pink growths, shiny bumps, or scars and are usually caused by a combination of cumulative and intense, occasional sun exposure.

Yeah, this is why you should always wear sunscreen.

Johnson’s win Sunday at Dover was his 11th at the track; the most of any driver. After tying Yarborough for sixth on the Cup Series all-time wins list, he’s just one win away from tying Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip for fourth.
