Over the past seven days Google users have been searching the web for Davy Jones, Lucio Dalla and actress Angelina Jolie, who recently hit the headlines thanks to the striking dress she wore at the Oscars.
The search term with the most significant growth over the past seven days was the name of Monkees member Davy Jones, who died on February 29 aged 66.
Davy Jones began his singing career with The Monkees -- created for a television show of the same name. Davy Jones sang lead vocals on some of the group's biggest hits, including "Daydream Believer." After the success of The Monkees Davy Jones continued his stage and musical career with various TV and theater performances and a record contract with Bell Records.
According to Google Insights the majority of searches for "Davy Jones" originated in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada.
The music world was also rocked this past week by the death of Italian singer-song writer Lucio Dalla -- who was the second most popular search term this week.
The 68-year-old singer-songwriter, who died on March 1 in Switzerland, was famous for composing "Caruso," which has been covered by numerous artists including Pavarotti, as well as for his solo albums and his collaboration with Bolognese poet Roberto Roversi.
Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie were both top-ranked search terms this week, most likely due to their appearances at the Oscars, where Jennifer Lopez was allegedly subject to a "wardrobe malfunction" and Angelina Jolie turned heads with a black dress slit up to the thigh.
Apple's rumored next gen iPad -- the iPad 3 -- was also a popular term this week. Fans are expecting Apple to launch the device at its event on March 7.
