Davidson County man dies after his vehicle runs over him in driveway

A Davidson County man died in his home's driveway Monday afternoon after he was unsuccessful in regaining control of his truck that was rolling backwards after he exited the vehicle, according to Trooper Ned Moultrie with the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Marshall David Kestler, 71, of 120 Lake Drive 8, Lexington, returned home Monday afternoon and was getting out of his 2018 Toyota Tacoma truck when it began rolling backwards.

"Mr. Kestler attempted to reenter the vehicle to regain control of it," Moultrie said. "As a result, it ran over him and fatally wounded him. He died at the scene."

N.C Highway Patrol Trooper Summers is the investigating officer for the accident.

No one else was in the truck with Kestler when he returned home and the accident occurred.
