David Cassidy Mourned by Hollywood: I ‘Wanted to Be Him’
David Cassidy died Tuesday at age 67 after suffering organ failure last week, and numerous music stars and Hollywood notables took to social media to mourn the 1970s teen idol known for his role on “The Partridge Family.”
His rep said in a statement that Cassidy “died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long.”
“So sad to hear of the passing of David Cassidy,” Harry Connick Jr. tweeted. “He was always so kind to me — such a pleasure to have had him on my show … sending love and prayers to his family… R.I.P. friend.”

“I’m very sad to hear about David Cassidy,” Brian Wilson wrote. “There were times in the mid-1970s when he would come over to my house, and we even started writing a song together. He was a very talented and nice person.”
“Who my age did not want to look like, sound like, just be him when they were young?” Tom Arnold shared. “I was lucky to get to know the sweet & very funny real David as an adult, & I still wanted to be him.”
