David Beckham stopped to share a heart-warming hug with 12-year-old Manchester Arena terror attack victim Amelia Thompson en route to the royal wedding.

The former footballer was spotted chatting to the schoolgirl as he arrived at Windsor Castle with wife Victoria on Saturday and beamed as he posed for a photo.

Thompson, who survived the devastating blast which killed 22 people in May last year, is one of the special guests invited by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Instead of bringing her mother with her, Thompson made the decision to bring Sarah Goodman, who lost granddaughter Olivia Campbell-Hardy in the attack.

Speaking about her daughter’s decision, Lisa Newton said: Obviously the 22 people that died can never be forgotten.

“Their family lost something so precious and I've still got Amelia, we can still experience things like that on Saturday.”

Prince Harry and Ms Markle have invited 1200 public guests to the wedding, including charity workers, Windsor residents and school children.

The Beckhams were joined by celebrities including George and Amal Clooney, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and James Corden at the eagerly-awaited nuptials.

Musicians Sir Elton John and James Blunt were also in attendance, as was chat show host James Corden and Prince Harry's ex-girlfriends Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas.

US TV show host Winfrey, thought to be a friend of Ms Markle's, was one of the first guests to arrive at the castle.
