Dave’s Hot Chicken opens new location in Mission Valley
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Another Dave’s Hot Chicken location is now open in San Diego County.
The Los Angeles startup, known for its jumbo hot chicken tenders and sliders, house-made coleslaw, mac n’ cheese and seasoned french fries, has been growing since it began as an East Hollywood pop-up in 2017.

You can get your chicken at your level of spice, from “no spice” to “reaper” (which the website says requires a signed waiver for those who dare to order it).
The new Mission Valley location opened Friday, March 8 at 2075 Camino De La Reina in the former Greenspot Salad Company building.

The food chain caught the attention of rapper Drake, who became a significant investor in 2021. Other celebrity investors include former California First Lady Maria Shriver, actor Samuel L. Jackson and retired NFL player Michael Strahan.
Dave’s Hot Chicken has been growing fast in recent years, gaining itself a cult following and the recognition of America’s Fastest Growing Restaurant Chain in 2023.
Now there are locations in major cities across the U.S. including in San Diego, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Detroit, Portland, Milwaukee, as well as in Dubai and Canada, according to its website.

The new Mission Valley location marks the sixth one to open in San Diego to go along with the restaurants in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Pacific Beach, and Mira Mesa.
In the summer of 2023 during the chain’s sixth anniversary celebration, Dave’s Hot Chicken hosted a pop-up in the East Hollywood parking lot where it all began, passing out free food to customers. It also marked the start of its first mobile app and loyalty program.
Drake also gave out free chicken for his 37th birthday this past October.

The chain’s website lists several locations across the country as opening soon — Richardson, TX; Cherry Hill, NJ; St. Paul, MN; Hemet, CA; and Westerville, OH.
Dave’s Hot Chicken in Mission Valley will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
