Semmes man wanted in deadly shooting at Daphne apartment complex

UPDATE (3 p.m.):

DAPHNE, Ala (WKRG) — Daphne Police have identified a suspect in Sunday morning’s deadly shooting at 10X Audubon Park.

“Joseph (Kaynen) Gurley, 23 years old, of Semmes, is wanted for one count of murder and one count of attempted murder,” a Daphne Police Department news release said.

“He is considered armed and dangerous.”

UPDATE (9:45 a.m.): Daphne’s Police Chief sent this news release with more information about today’s shooting:

At 2:30 a.m., on March 31, 2024, Daphne Police Officers responded to 10 X Audubon Park on County Rd 64 for a reported shooting. There they discovered a white male, approximately 40 years old, deceased in an apartment and a second white male with a gunshot wound located nearby. He was flown to University Hospital for treatment.

Before Officers arrived, the suspects, a white male and white female, fled in a dark colored SUV. The shooting is believed to have resulted after a dispute between the male suspect and the deceased, who were acquainted but were not residents the apartment.

The second victim was a resident of the apartment and fled to seek help.

The cause of the dispute is unclear, but the investigation is ongoing.

Detectives have several leads as they attempt to identify the suspects.

Additional information will be released when becomes appropriate.

UPDATE (6:55 a.m.): Daphne’s Police Chief says they are investigating a shooting that happened before dawn on Easter Sunday.

Two people were shot. One was killed and a second person was flown to medical care.

The police chief says they do not have a suspect in custody at this time and that it’s an active investigation. We expect more information later this morning.

DAPHNE, Ala (WKRG) — Members of the Daphne Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office are responding to an incident at the Audubon Park Apartment complex in Daphne. The incident was called in at about 2:45 on Easter morning.

Deputies and police officers cordoned off two sections of the parking lot with crime scene tape.

It’s not clear what happened early this morning. An official at the scene said they couldn’t release any information about it at this time.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office will likely be assisting in this investigation.
