Fire damages 3 Daphne businesses

DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — The call came in at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday: A fire had broken out at a business complex near the intersection of County Road 13 and Lawson Road in Daphne. Three businesses, Janino’s Pizza, Baldwin County Federal Credit Union and a nail salon, all threatened.

“I saw a picture of it, and I was like, I need to drive over here,” says Chris Brill.

His Dad owns Janino’s Pizza.

“We are looking around, I’ve got my two brother-in-laws here, and we’re just kind of walking around,” he said.

The fire appears to have originated in or around the credit union, News 5 has learned. It suffered heavy damage.

INCIDENT LOCATION:

The nail salon and Janino’s are dealing mainly with smoke and water damage but the lack of electricity for hours has ruined all of their food and it’s what they can’t see that causes concern, according to Brill.

“We definitely got smoke damage but it’s hard to tell until we get up in the ceiling,” he said. “It was full of smoke when they opened the doors this morning.”

The hope is to re-open as soon as possible.
