Danville PD says man in Apollo Ave police shooting charged with three felonies

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Police Department announced charges have been filed against the man injured during the police shooting that occurred on Apollo Ave.

On Wednesday, Jan. 17, 24-year-old Nicholas Beddoo was found in the parking lot of Westwood Middle School after reports that he was on Apollo Ave. armed with a gun.

Multiple officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, however; Beddo allegedly drew a handgun, fired in a direction away from them, and then proceeded to aim in their direction.

Officers then discharged their weapons, hitting Beddoo.

Police say that on Wednesday, Jan. 24, Beddoo was released from the hospital. He has since been charged with three felonies by Virginia State Police:

  • Willfully discharging a firearm on school property

  • Two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer

Beddoo is currently being held without bond in the Danville City Jail.
