Danville PD arrest wanted man connected to Keen Street shooting

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Danville police say they have arrested a wanted man in connection to a shooting that occurred on Keen Street in January 2024.

According to DPD, on Wednesday, May 8, 32-year-old Devonta Lewayne Dodson was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Malicious Wounding

  • Attempted Malicious Wounding

  • Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony

  • Discharging a Firearm in Public

  • Shooting from a Vehicle

  • Possessing a Firearm by a Violent Felon

Around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, officers arrived at the 500 block of Keen Street to find a 19-year-old with a gunshot wound. The victim was last reported to be in stable condition.

Police say Dodson was also wanted on three additional warrants from other jurisdictions. He is being held without bond.
