Danville Fire Dept. responds to two-alarm garage fire

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Danville Fire Department is investigating a garage fire that drew a two-alarm response Monday morning.

The fire happened in the area of Buchanan and South Streets. Officials said firefighters were dispatched at 10:53 a.m. and arrived to find a detached garage fully engulfed in flames. A car parked nearby also on fire, and high winds were threatening other buildings nearby.

Decatur officials investigating ‘suspicious’ house fire

Firefighters extended multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire and protect the other buildings. Ameren Illinois assisted by disconnecting the garage’s electricity.

The fire was out within minutes of arrival, though crews remained on-scene to perform overhaul until 12:11 p.m. The fire caused an estimated $15,000 worth of damage but no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
