Danny Green magical for Raptors, scores game-winning bucket against Orlando

This game shouldn’t have been this close.

At one point on Tuesday night in Orlando the Toronto Raptors were up by 18 midway through the second quarter against the Magic and looked destined to cruise to yet another victory early in the season.

Orlando was relentless though, and took advantage of some poor shooting by the Raptors to begin their comeback. Before Toronto knew it, Orlando’s Evan Fournier was cutting through defenders for a massive dunk to knot the game up at 91 with just over two seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Cue, Danny Green.

That’s a clutch play at a big moment by the Raptors veteran. After receiving the in-bound pass from Kyle Lowry as he ran towards the baseline, Green pulled up for the jumper and nailed it with only half of a second left on the clock.

“I got a good look, put the shot up, luckily it went in,” said Green to Sportsnet’s Leo Rautins after the game.

He had been struggling from beyond the arc before hitting the winner. In fact, he was only 2-for-8 from three point land. However, as a shooter in his tenth NBA season, his experience proved to come through at the most crucial time.

He finished with 13 points to help Toronto improve to 14-4 this season.
