The link was reconnected at about 11:20 a.m. local time, Peter Hjalmar, an EON SE spokesman said by phone. It was taken offline in the morning after a small fault was found on the Danish side. The German energy giant is the operator of the cable.
The cable supplies the Bornholm population of 40,000 people and is the only link to a major power grid. It’s located near the Nord Stream pipelines.
Authorities started up a local power plant to produce electricity to the island, broadcaster DR reported, citing the local energy company.
