Man wanted for murders of daughter and girlfriend in Dover has been captured, HCSO says

DOVER, Fla. (WFLA) — The man accused of “brutally” murdering a romantic partner and his child in Dover is considered “armed and dangerous” has been arrested.

Hillsborough County Chad Chronister described the Sumner Road home as “an extremely gruesome scene” after deputies responded Wednesday night.

When they arrived, they found a woman laying dead in a pool of blood in the backyard, Sheriff Chad Chronister said. Deputies also discovered the body of a girl who they believe is as young as 4 or 5 years old inside the home.

Deputies believe 31-year-old Angel Gabriel Cuz-Choc committed the crimes and escaped into the woods near Sumner Road in Dover.

On Wednesday, a neighbor told deputies they heard a woman scream at about 3:40 p.m., but didn’t contact law enforcement because it “wasn’t something out of the ordinary,” Chronister said. There was no record of calls for service at that address.

“Deputies arrived on scene and immediately discovered that it was an extremely gruesome scene. Gruesome scene.” Chronister said. “An adult female laying in the backyard of the house in her own puddle of blood. A bloody handprint that we believe was hers and she was fighting for her life trying to escape the violence.”

“We believe that our suspect fled on foot. Yes, he is dangerous. He has killed somebody who he was romantically involved with,” the sheriff said. “He has killed his own child.”

Deputies believe the three of them moved to the area from Guatemala about seven months ago.

“It is kind of, you know, something to be worried about, especially, you know, if they don’t catch him,” neighbor Curtis Groom told 8 On Your Side. “A mile or two down the road, you have schools and stuff like that. So it is kind of terrifying.”

Chronister gave the community some reassurance stating they will find him.

“I promise you [Angel Cuz-Choc] there is nowhere where you can hide that we won’t find you.”
