‘Dancing With the Stars’ Week 3 Results: Who Went Home?

Warning: This recap of the Sept. 27 episode of Dancing With the Stars contains spoilers.

With no presidential debate to contend with, DWTS stretched out Tuesday night with a two-hour results show to supplement Monday’s crazy cramp session. We heard from the judges about each couple’s Face-Off dance, lived vicariously through the random ladies Maks and Val plucked from the audience to shimmy around with, and marveled at co-host Kym Johnson Herjavec’s little black gown with intriguing straps. The former pro and two-time Coveted Mirrorball Trophy winner filled in for Erin Andrews, who took time off to be with her grieving boyfriend but will be back next week.

At the end of Tuesday’s filler-fest, a matador went down: Former governor Rick Perry and his partner Emma Slater were the second couple to be eliminated from Season 23. “Oh my God, he’s digging for oil!” we heard an impressed Bruno Tonioli yelp in the middle of their very respectable paso doble. “He’s digging for Texas!” (More unfiltered sound bites from all four judges, please! Who knew audio gems would be the rarest jewels of all?)

“I’ve lived my life in jeopardy, so this is just another one of the steps,” joked Perry, who now has no excuse to look squeamish while dancing at his daughter’s mid-October wedding.

Amber Rose and Maksim Chmerkovskiy joined Rick and Emma under the spooky red light, while Terra Jolé and Sasha Farber were repeatedly designated as “in jeopardy” throughout the show.

Head Judge Len Goodman announced he’ll be absent for the next few weeks to judge “the mothership,” Britain’s Strictly Come Dancing, full-time. “Make sure it’s a dancing competition and not all about razzle-dazzle,” he warned his mischievous fellow judges and all of Our Pros.

Perhaps it’s for the best that the ballroom traditionalist will miss next week’s first-ever Cirque du Soleil theme night.

Tune in Monday for the most sparkly splash of “acrobats, aerialists, and tumblers — oh my!” to ever hit Hollywood. See you soon!

XOXO,
Fringe Fairy
