James Jordan was recently announced as one of the celebrities to be taking part on the upcoming series of Dancing on Ice.

However, some fans weren't impressed with the former Strictly Come Dancing professional joining the show, considering he already has one of the two main skills the stars learn.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy at Nickelodeon Slimefest, Dancing on Ice digital host Jordan Banjo said: "I know he's struggling with the skating really bad but obviously people think he has an advantage because he knows music really well, he can dance, he's used to doing lifts and stuff like that.

"If he can get the skating under his belt, he could be really good but that's like saying to a Premier League footballer, you have to learn how to ice skate and you'll be good at playing football on ice. It doesn't work just being a good dancer."

Ashley Banjo's brother added: "It's learning a new skill so who knows how it will translate? It's a whole new skill.

"Of course he understands music but so do a lot of people, it's not even about James Jordan to choreograph himself, so in terms of musicality, as long as you can count from one to eight, that's sort of redundant.

"Everyone is on a similar playing field especially when James Jordan is really struggling when it comes to skating."

The Diversity dancer added those reasons mean he would never take part in any dance-based reality show such as Strictly.

"I wouldn't do Strictly. Not because it isn't an amazing show but because people assume you have an advantage," he explained.

"I get it because we dance and we understand timing, but when I say the style of dances are worlds apart, I mean it. Apart from understanding music, I might as well have never danced before. They are that far apart.

"I'm working on The Greatest Dancer with Oti Mabuse, one of the pros from Strictly. We were mucking around and she tried to teach me a salsa and I was so dreadful.

"She was going, 'What are you doing? Where's your posture?' And I just crumbled because the technique was so different. We've never been technical in our lives."

Jordan Banjo and bandmate Perri Kiely hosted the Nickelodeon Slimefest, which took place on Blackpool Pleasure Beach from October 20-22.

And revealing just how disgusting the famous green slime is, Jordan Banjo said: "When me and Pel are on stage, we kind of run out into the crowd and we are high-fiving people – but when they've just been on stage, the slime stays on it and it congeals and goes cold. When they grab your hands, that's pretty gross."
