Dallastown Area student named Distinguished Young Woman of York County during program

Amishi Singla of Dallastown Area High School won the the 59th Annual Distinguished Young Women of York County scholarship program on Sunday at The Pullo Center in Spring Garden Township.

The nationwide program started in 1958 and recognizes and rewards outstanding students with scholarships.

The program awarded about $43,000 in scholarships to the young women on Sunday afternoon, said Lyn Bergdoll, program chair.

Singla plans to become an ophthalmologist, and her college choice is the University of Pittsburgh.

She has many accomplishments, including first in class, distinguished honor roll, AP Scholar with Honors, International Science and Engineering Fair finalist, and York County Science and Engineering Fair Grand Champion.

  • Be Your Best Self: Rosalyn Mulligan of York Catholic High School and Vicki Chen of Susquehannock High School

  • Leadership Award: Kayla Mabeus of Dover Area High School, Melody Smeltzer of South Western High School, Ava Godshall of Northeastern High School, Priyal Prabhu of Central York High School and Ava King of West York Area High School
