DALLAS - Heavy rains flooded streets in parts of North Texas on Wednesday.

Several area roadways closed due to high water.

The National Weather Service issued Flash Flood Warnings for Dallas, Collin, Ellis, and Rockwall counties through Wednesday afternoon.

LIVE RADAR

Most of the flooding came due to a cluster of thunderstorms that remained stationary most of the afternoon.

Dallas Flooding

Flash flooding caused problems in Dallas' Pleasant Grove neighborhood.

Water rose over the top of a trash can near Bitter Creek park.

Red Oak Flooding

Several properties flooded along Pierce Road, east of I-35E in Red Oak, which is about 20 miles south of Dallas.

Chuck Busch, who has lived in the area for decades, says that newer developments in the area has made flash flooding worse.

"It just gets soggy and nasty but you know sooner or later it’ll go away," said Busch.

Red Oak Fire Rescue says the I-35E service road is another area prone to flooding.

"We have known areas that flash flood when we have rainfall like this and our guys are propositioned to know where those bad spots are and are ready to respond to those areas," said Chris Young, the assistant fire chief for Red Oak Fire Rescue.

TxDOT crews placed road barriers and a sign reading "Road closed due to high water" shortly after FOX 4 crews captures vehicles driving through standing water.

There were close calls for first responders in Red Oak, but overall outcomes could have been worse.

"Today when the weather rolled in, we had five swift-water rescue calls and none of those resulted in our guys having to get in the water and deploy any assets for swift water — but they were able to assist personnel as they were able to self-evacuate," said Young.

Mesquite Flooding

The off-ramp from 635 to Military Parkway in Mesquite was submerged by water.

FOX 4 crews saw cars there were stuck before water receded.

At least one car had to be towed away after attempting to drive through high water.

Mesquite saw 3.73 inches on Wednesday.

That number was just a bit more than Rockwall which saw 3.31 inches.

Interestingly enough, DFW Airport only saw .05 inches.

FOX 4 Weather Meteorologist Evan Andrews said it’s the last day for rain this week.

"Once we get past today, the weather is very predictable and easy," he said. "I realize it was a little dicey on Monday of course with the eclipse around. It worked out okay. We had our storms at night yesterday. Flooding for some of our counties. And today, we’re on the back side of the storm."
