COWBOYS’ DAK PRESCOTT WINS WEEK 18 AND 2023 SEASON CROWN IN 26TH YEAR OF MIAMI HERALD NFL QB RANKINGS; SURPRISE RUNNER-UP AS DOLPHINS’ TUA SLIPS TO 3RD PLACE FINISH BUT SETS CLUB RECORDS : Dallas’ Dak Prescott wins Week 18 with a 53.95 point game to clinch the season championship with 596.80 total points in the Miami Herald’s final 2023 NFL quarterback rankings. It is his second career crown; Prescott previously won in 2019. Detroit‘s Jared Goff is a sneaky-surprise second place ahead of Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa, who slips to No. 3 after a subpar last couple of games. However Tagovailoa’s third-place finish and 547.20 total points both are Dolphins records since we began our rankings in 1998. Previous Miami high points was 481.25 by Ryan Tannehill in 2014. Previous high finish was fifth place by Dan Marino in 1998 and Chad Pennington in 2008. This wraps the 26th season of the Herald’s Passer Success System (PASS) rankings that began in ‘98 with Steve Young the inaugural season winner. Our ratings system is cumulative not percentile-based, rewarding players who are consistently productive and avoid injury or benching. Our ratings formula factors accuracy, passing yardage, touchdown/interception ratio and team result. They are passer ratings per se and do not include a QB’s running statistics. The expanded final top 50 for 2023:
