Kyrie Irving played with LeBron James for three years as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014-2017 making it to three NBA Finals and winning one.
Irving wants to team up with James again in the Lone Star State according to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania. If James were to come to the Mavs, the team would then have a three-headed monster consisting of James, Irving and Luka Doncic which would immediately put the team in NBA title contention.

The Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes also reported the Mavs were intending on trying to trade for James at the all-star break this season before the Lakers’ late-season turnaround.

The Lakers’ season ended with a sweep in the Western Conference Finals at the hands of the Denver Nuggets.
After his team’s loss to the Nuggets, James did say he would consider retirement this offseason and has expressed frustration with the Lakers in reports.
It’s unknown if James desires to leave LA or would be willing to come to play for the Mavs.
