A dog belonging to NFL star Lucky Whitehead is safe and back at home, a day after the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver posted a public appeal on social media to find his beloved pit bull pup.

Whitehead took to Snapchat on Tuesday morning to confirm that his dog, Blitz, was found safely.

Whitehead said that he was out of town and had left Blitz in the care of a friend when someone broke into his home Sunday and stole the pup.

“I wasn’t here to protect him,” Whitehead told The Associated Press.

In the hours that followed, an unknown person contacted Whitehead on his cell phone, demanding he “cut a check” for $10,000 if he wanted to see Blitz again, the NFL player said.

He said that when police were unable to help, he took to Instagram, appealing to the dognappers and anyone who may have known where Blitz was being held.

“I strongly advise you to stop and return my boy safely before it gets any worse!” Whitehead wrote before the dog turned up safe.

No arrests have been made.
