Dale Co. Sheriff’s holding DUI checkpoint

DALE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN)—A DUI checkpoint will be hidden in Dale County on Sunday, May 26, to discourage drunk and impaired driving.

The DCSO has not released the location of the checkpoint. At the checkpoint, deputies will look for signs of drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

A release from SpectraCare, which partnered with the DCSO to establish the checkpoint, says the checkpoint’s purpose is not to make arrests but to promote public safety.

“The Dale County Sheriff’s Office and SpectraCare Health Systems are committed to keeping Dale County’s youth and the traveling public safe and remind the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol,” stated a SpectraCare spokesperson.

According to SpectraCare, the County Health Rankings data report for 2023 shows 22% for alcohol-impaired driving deaths, a decrease of 4% since 2021.
