James Corden To Play ‘Peter Rabbit’ In Sony’s Take On Classic; Daisy Ridley, Elizabeth Debicki, Rose Byrne Also Set

Sony’s Columbia Pictures is bringing Beatrix Potter’s 150-year-old children’s classic book Peter Rabbit to the big screen as a live-action/animated feature. Pic will be directed by Will Gluck and starring James Corden as the voice of Peter, Rose Byrne in the live action role of Bea, with Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki also providing voices. Production starts at Australia’s animated VFX studio Animal Logic in January with an eye at a April 2018 release date. The Sydney-based studio was behind the animation in The LEGO Movie.

Columbia Pictures has partnered with Peter Rabbit‘s publisher Frederick Warne & Co., part of Penguin Random House UK for the movie, and is planning a huge worldwide licensing and merchandising campaign for the movie. Gluck will produce through his Olive Bridge Entertainment while Zareh Nalbandian is producing through Animal Logic Entertainment. Doug Belgrad, Jason Lust and Olive Bridge’s Jodi Hildebrand will serve as EPs. Rob Lieber wrote the script with revisions by Gluck. Providing support to the Peter Rabbit production is the Australian Government through Screen Australia and Screen NSW. Lauren Abrahams of Sony Pictures Animation will oversee Peter Rabbit for Sony.
