Dairy Queen is offering free ice cream Tuesday to celebrate the start of spring

Despite snow and cold temperatures outside, according to the calendar, spring is almost here.

Dairy Queen is celebrating the start of the season with "Free Cone Day" on Tuesday, March 19. All day at participating, non-mall DQ locations, including in the Milwaukee area, each visitor will receive a free, small vanilla soft-serve cone.

"Nothing says warmer weather is around the corner quite like Free Cone Day," DQ posted on X, formerly Twitter. "We're inviting fans everywhere to grab their friends and families and get their 'Treat Szn' started with something sweet – on us!"

The promotion is limited to one per person, while supplies last, and it is not available for delivery or mobile orders.

The day is "even sweeter" for DQ Rewards members, the restaurant chain said. Rewards members will earn double points on any purchase Tuesday.

When does spring officially start?

Astronomical spring officially begins with the spring equinox, which takes place on Tuesday, March 19 this year.
