Starting Tuesday, April 16, the U.S. Postal Service will be delivering The Daily Messenger to subscribers.

This switch to same-day mail delivery ensures reliable delivery of the newspaper while ensuring our digital arm – www.mpnnow.com – can serve increasing digital readership demand.

The round-the-clock online news cycle has made news websites and apps our audiences’ first choice for developing news stories and for local sports. Indeed, most of our print subscribers here in the year 2024 engage regularly with our digital stories, photos and video.

For this reason, The Daily Messenger is placing renewed emphasis on the printed newspaper as a place readers can find insight and context and perspective on local events, including feature stories that remind us why we like to live in the Canandaigua-Victor area, look-ahead coverage of high school sports.

For all the changes in the local news business and in audience habits, The Daily Messenger and www.mpnnow.com still provide stories you aren’t likely to find elsewhere.

"The Daily Messenger has long reflected life on and near Canandaigua Lake, Gannett Co. Inc. New York State Editor Mike Kilian said. “Content platforms and delivery methods might change, but what is unwavering is our responsibility to tell local and regional stories that matter to Ontario County readers."

Like many other newspaper publishers, Gannett, which operates more than 200 daily local newspapers including The Daily Messenger, has already successfully introduced the same-day mail delivery approach in dozens of markets across the country and is expanding the initiative.

“For many years now, the printed newspaper has served as a culmination of the stories that will become our collective history, while our websites and mobile apps deliver the news of the day,” said Michael A. Anastasi, vice president of local news for Gannett. “We know that by the time our informed readers pick up the paper, they know what happened yesterday – the print newspaper should provide additional context, to help readers better understand their community and the world around them.”

Readers can also visit www.mpnnow.com to access the eNewspaper, a digital replica of The Daily Messenger at www.mpnnow.com/enewspaper.”

Subscribers will receive letters in the mail before the delivery change is implemented. The notifications will also include instructions on accessing digital products.
