We can always count on our parents to embarrass us in front of our friends whether they crack a not-so-funny joke or recall an awkward childhood secret.

But nothing can top one dad’s revenge when he overheard his teenage son begging his mum to get him to stop waving goodbye at the school bus.

In response to his outrage, he did what any parent would do – he decided to embarrass the 16-year-old for the entire school year.

American Dale Price took it upon himself to don a different fancy dress costume every morning to wave his son Rain off, which soon garnered him the title ‘Wave at the Bus Dad’.

Spending just $50 (approximately £39) a year on the varying looks, he relied on friends and family to lend him eccentric looks which ranged from him pretending to be a member of the Secret Service to donning a shell bra for the part of The Little Mermaid‘s Ariel.

“When he did it the first day I was in shock. You don’t want to see your dad dressing up in a wedding dress, waving at you on the bus,” Rain revealed to the Metro.

But his dad simply joked: “I hope this lives with him for the rest of his life.”

And his newfound fame soon encouraged his wife Rochelle to launch a blog to document Dale’s daily outfits.

But he didn’t stop after son Rain’s first year of college, as the father-of-three continued to don embarrassing outfits for three school years with other members of the family often joining in on the action.

Now that his son is 19-years-old and has flown the nest, you can keep up to date with Dale’s latest antics over on the blog.

Let this be a lesson to all teenagers starting college this September…
