What is SNAP Employment and Training?

Today, children in elementary school classrooms face a lot of social issues including the temptation to use drugs and alcohol, bullying, internet and social media safety, and the fear of school violence.

In response to these issues and the welfare of others and the community, the Beckley Police Department is partnering with the Raleigh County Board of Education to introduce the D.A.R.E. education curriculum in the classrooms at Maxwell Hill, Beckley, Stratton, and Crescent Elementary Schools starting in the fall of 2024.

The D.A.R.E. program has been a frequent and constant program used in many schools throughout the country helping millions of students understand risks and make good decisions. It also helps give students the skills and tools to live a healthier lifestyle.

Law enforcement has been trying to find ways to build a positive relationship between the community and police. The D.A.R.E. program’s goal is to build trust and positive relationships between law enforcement, students, and parents in order to make a safer community and to get help from people in the community and police when they need it.
