The disturbing voicemail D.C. Officer Michael Fanone received while testifying about Jan. 6 insurrection

On Don Lemon Tonight Tuesday, not long after giving testimony at the first House committee hearing to investigate the Capitol insurrection, D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone shared a disturbing voicemail he received from a stranger while he was testifying. But not before a serious warning from host Don Lemon.

“It includes some incredibly offensive language, but we think people need to hear the kind of attacks that these officers are facing right now. Just for telling the truth about January 6th,” Lemon said, before playing the near-minute long voicemail that was filled with expletives and offensive language directed at Fanone and other police officers.

Some Republicans have claimed recently that there was no armed insurrection, a stance that Fanone called “disgraceful” during his testimony Tuesday, and why he said a voicemail like this can and does happen.

“I remember my first reaction immediately after listening to that phone call,” Fanone said. “This is what happens to people that tell the truth in Trump's America.”

DON LEMON: Mike received a voicemail today while he was testifying. And he shared that voicemail with us. And I have to warn everybody, it includes some incredibly offensive language. But we think people need to hear the kind of attacks that these officers are facing right now.

KYLIE MAR: On "Don Lemon Tonight" Tuesday, fresh off of giving testimony at the first House Committee hearing to investigate the Capitol insurrection, DC Metropolitan Police officer Michael Fanone shared a disturbing voicemail he received from a stranger while he was testifying.

- Yeah, this is for Michael Fanone, Metropolitan Police Officer. You're on trial right now, lying. And do you want an Emmy, an Oscar? What are you trying to go for. You're so full of [BLEEPED] you little [BLEEPED]. You're a little [BLEEPED], man.

KYLIE MAR: Fanone is actually a plainclothes narcotics officer who put on a uniform for the first time in nearly 10 years to respond to the calls for help on January 6. And at the insurrection, he was tased and beaten and said he suffered a traumatic brain injury, heart attack, concussion, and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

- I wish they would have killed all you scumbags. You people are scum. They stole the election from Trump. And you know that, you scumbag! And [INAUDIBLE] [BLEEPED]. Too bad they didn't beat the [BLEEPED] out of you more! You're a piece of [BLEEPED]! You're a little [BLEEPED].

KYLIE MAR: Recently, some Republicans have claimed that there was no armed insurrection, with Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson even calling it a peaceful protest. It's a stance that Fanone called "disgraceful" during his testimony Tuesday and why he said a voicemail like this can happen.

MICHAEL FANONE: My first reaction immediately after listening to that phone call, which I actually received while I was testifying in the hearing today, this is what happens to people that tell the truth in Trump's America.
