Czechia has discovered over a million pieces of artillery ammunition around the world that can be purchased for Ukraine outside Europe.

Source: Slovak newspaper Deník N, citing Czech President Petr Pavel following the Three Seas Summit in Vilnius, as reported by European Pravda.

Details: Pavel noted that Czechia's ambition is to swiftly supply Ukraine with as much ammunition as possible.

"We have discovered about 800,000 rounds of 155-calibre artillery ammunition for Ukraine, a figure that was accurate some time ago. Now it's over a million," Pavel said.

The president added that the Czech-led initiative is not the only one. "Estonia and the United Kingdom are developing a similar one, and France has also spoken about it," he added.

Pavel said Ukraine needs a vast amount of ammunition as it anticipates a Russian offensive in the summer months.

Ukraine is not concerned about where the ammunition will come from and who will provide it, the Czech president added.

Previously:

  • Czechia indicated that the number of ammunition for Ukraine under its initiative could potentially grow to 1.5 million.

  • A total of 15 countries have joined the Czech-led initiative, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium, Poland and Canada. Not all of them have publicly announced the amount of funds they have contributed to purchasing the shells.

  • Tomáš Pojar, Czech Prime Minister's National Security Advisor, suggested that the ammunition purchased under the Czech-led initiative might arrive in Ukraine as early as June.
