Cutler park armed robbery, stabbing suspect arrested, deputies say

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was arrested Monday morning following an armed robbery and stabbing that took place over the weekend in Cutler, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies say on Saturday, a 22-year-old man was stabbed during an armed robbery in Ledbetter Park.

Investigators say they eventually identified 29-year-old Joel Ortega Jr. of Cutler as the stabbing suspect.

On Monday around 11 a.m., detectives say after searching the Cutler/Orosi area, Ortega Jr. was found in his vehicle and taken into custody without incident.

Deputies report Ortega Jr. was booked under suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials say the victim has since been released from the hospital.
