EVERYWHERE—Throughout the city, historic buildings are being renovated and transformed into new hotels and apartments. Here are 11 historic building transformations worth noting.

LAKEVIEW—The large 125,000 square foot mixed-used development that will bring a new Mariano's and XSport Fitness to Broadway was recently approved by the city and will break ground early next year.

THE LOOP—The much anticipated, and much delayed Virgin Hotel will be opening this December. The hotel will be the Virgin group's first of three hotels planned for the US.

RIVER NORTH—Say goodbye the derelict old Gino's East and say hello to a new 41 story, 444 unit apartment tower.
